DOUBLE TROUBLE TOUR
- Tom Goss & de Roche One Night Only - Sat, Sept 3, 2022 - 8pm a fund raiser for Spotlighters Theatre TOM GOSS is a veteran singer-songwriter who blends a soulful voice and atmospheric soundscapes in expertly crafted songs about the joys and struggles of modern love. A prolific writer and performer, Tom has released seven albums and played thousands of shows across the US, Canada, and Europe to dedicated fans. He has been compared to Twin Shadow, Mat Kearney, and Wye Oak -- but with a distinct perspective shaped by his unusual history. A college wrestler turned Catholic seminarian turned polyamorous gay troubadour, Tom sings about disillusionment, desire, and hope in an intimate yet relatable way. Tom's songs have been heard on ABC, HBO and Univision, and his inventive music videos have been viewed more than 17 million times. He has shared a stage with performers as diverse as Andy Grammer, Martha Wash, Taylor Dane, Adrianne Gonzalez, Matt Alber, and Catie Curtis, and he enjoys a particularly strong following in the LGBT community. de ROCHE is a lover of adventurous and voracious pop; de ROCHE mines emotional depths for rock-solid songs that range from soulful electronica to hot folk. A new solo project from drummer, keyboardist, and singer Liz DeRoche, it's the culmination of two decades in the music industry as a band member (The Pushovers, Cane & The Sticks), producer, studio musician, teaching artist, and record label manager. As de ROCHE, Liz mixes synthy smoothness with a raw emotionality to create an idiosyncratic style that she bravely embraces. With 2021’s release of Big Let Down, she serves up tender, yet strong songs based on real heartache and other revelations from a wanderlustful life. “It’s the emotional impact I’m looking for," says Liz. “I want to make meaningful music that people will take very personally. |

Dickens' A Christmas Carol ... a one man show
written by Charles Dickens
edited & adapted for the stage by Sherrionne Brown and Phil Gallagher directed by Sherrionne Brown stage managed by Performance Dates: Dec 9 - 18, 2022 Fri & Sat at 8pm; Sun at 2pm Join us for limited engagement of Charles Dickens' A CHRISTMAS CAROL - in the style that Dickens himself performed the work, when he toured the United States in the 1860s.
“Bah! Humbug!” Is there a more famous response to being wished “Merry Christmas!”? Scrooge, Tiny Tim, the trio of Christmas ghosts, and the story of what happens when a bitter old man is given one last chance at redemption, are as well-known as any of Dickens’ characters. They’ve been portrayed in films and on TV around the world and now you can meet them all, live on stage in Spotlighters’ captivating, one-man adaptation. Using only Dickens’ inimitable language, Phil Gallagher’s performance will thrill and chill audiences of all ages. With minimal props and costume, Gallagher portrays all these much-loved characters and breathes new life into a story that is as moving, relevant, and redemptive as it was when first written over 170 years ago. "After everything we've been through in the past few years it seems fitting to tell the story of one man's reflection and redemption ... In a time where the world needs each of us to look within and find our own best selves, ... we need this tale of metamorphosis and catharsis this holiday season." (Hunter Arnold) TICKETS |

music & lyrics by Jeff Bowen book by Hunter Bell directed by Stephen Foreman musically directed by Mandee Ferrier Roberts Performance Dates: Jan 20 - Feb 5, 2023 Fri & Sat at 8pm; Sun at 2pm Jeff and Hunter, two struggling writers, hear about a new musical theatre festival. However, the deadline for submissions is a mere three weeks away. With the cast in place, Jeff and Hunter begin a conversation about what to write about. Eventually, Jeff suggests they write about what to write about. They make a pact to write up until the festival's deadline and dream about the show changing their lives. [title of show] -- taken from the space on the festival's application form which asks for the "[title of show]" -- follows Hunter and Jeff and their friends on their journey through the gauntlet of creative self-expression. In the span of 90 minutes they write and perform their show at the festival and learn lessons about themselves as people, friends, and artists. 'night, Mother
by Marsha Norman directed by Suzanne Beal Performance Dates: May 26 - June 11, 2023 Fri & Sat at 8pm; Sun at 2pm The scene is the living room/kitchen of a small house on an isolated country road, which is shared by Jessie and her mother. Jessie’s father is dead; her loveless marriage ended in divorce; her absent son is a petty thief and ne’er-do-well; her last job didn’t work out and, in general, her life is stale and unprofitable. As the play begins Jessie asks for her father’s service revolver and calmly announces that she intends to kill herself. At first her mother refuses to take her seriously, but as Jessie sets about tidying the house and making lists of things to be looked after, her sense of desperate helplessness begins to build. In the end, with the inexorability of genuine tragedy, she can only stand by, stunned and unbelieving, as Jessie quietly closes and locks her bedroom door and ends her profound unhappiness in one fatal, stunning, and deeply disturbing moment—a moment never to be forgotten by those who have witnessed, and come to understand, her plight. Baltimore Playwrights Festival Production
WHAT HAS DONE written by Jack L. B. Gohn directed by Barry Feinstein stage managed by produced by Miriam Bazensky, Baltimore Playwrights Festival in collaboration with Spotlighters Performance Dates: July 14 - 23, 2023 It’s 1978, in rural Maryland. Deirdre, a White historian working on grant money to complete a dissertation on lynchings in the state, is killing two birds with one stone, visiting farmland where the last Maryland lynching happened (in 1933) and stopping by her Uncle Selby’s home. An anomaly in the tax records of the farmland sets her on the trail of what really happened in the lynching, a story that reaches back to the 1840s and forward to 1978, and will turn out to involve Deirdre’s uncle, her uncle’s in-laws, Deirdre’s Black civil rights worker boyfriend, and their 14-year-old son. The story of endemic racism, once uncovered, will force the characters to make momentous decisions regarding allegiances, attitudes, and (it is implied) the politics of this present day. A New work by a local Baltimore Playwright. TICKETS |
