Synopsis: Paulina Salas is a former political prisoner who had been tortured and raped by her captors, led by a sadistic doctor whose face she never saw.
Paulina now lives in an isolated house with her husband. One day an act of kindness brings the past to her door -“During all those years not an hour passed
that I haven’t heard it, that same voice, next to me, next to my ear, that voice mixed with saliva, you think I’d forget a voice like his?"
Death and the Maiden forces the audience to confront questions about torture and punishment. The confrontation and shifts in power between the three inevitable raises issues of justice and revenge, especially in relationship to the punishment of war criminals.
