Director’s Comments . . .
This show, much like a teenage girl, is a BEAST. I couldn’t have asked for a better cast - devoted, funny, caring and so alive.
They took everything I gave them and breathed so much life into it it became a real, living creature, spitting and snarling across the stage.
Wolves are pack animals - they live in groups of 6 to 10, and have one designated leader. That spot is hard fought - much like we fight to take control of our lives, wolves do the same. But there comes a time when, animal or human, we must accept that we cannot control everything.
Teenage girls are the last people on Earth to get that memo, and they spend so much of their time clawing their way up social and academic ladders, praying to be seen and heard amongst their peers.
I hope that all of the teenage girls in your lives (even the one whose youth is already past but lives deep within your heart) remember that they are allowed to just be. Sing at the top of your lungs, play sports you don’t like, eat oranges and put the rind in your mouth and laugh and dance and LIVE.
We have plenty of time to be Wolves - so let’s make time to be girls.
