Director’s Comments . . . Alanna Kiewe, Director
One of my favorite things about theater is the community. The friendships formed and the people you meet make all the sweat and tears 100% worth it. The cast and crew of this show prove once again that the magic of theater comes from the community built during the creation of the production…believe me, we spent a lot of time building community as we practiced all the craziness you are about to see before you. From designing the sets and costumes to learning the lines, this group worked tirelessly to bring this production to life. I would get into more specifics, but I don’t want to spoil the show. I cannot thank everyone involved in that process enough, including Kate Danley who not only authored this wonderful slapstick comedy but shared her knowledge with my graduate school class of aspiring writers.
Unfortunately, that community does not translate into how the characters interact on stage. This office is a dog-eat-dog world, and they are all vying for that number one position (even the actual dog in the show). Don’t worry, no dogs were harmed in the making of this production. This show is a constant push and pull of power, and I challenge you to decide who ultimately ends up on top or… maybe even… who topples that pyramid. As part of our community (and not the community in the office), I invite you to sit back, relax, and come along on this wild ride. Laugh as hard as you can, watch your feet in the aisles, and if you feel so inclined, maybe help move some dead bodies.
