As we enter our 50th Season (2011-2012)Spotlighters is planning several events to celebrate and toraise funds for the ADA Renovations. To accomplish this, we need your help. We need you tovolunteer to take charge of an event or a program. Check the list below and then contact the theatre tovolunteer. 410-752-1225 / Fuzz@spotlighters.org BackStage & Furniture Room Clean-Up SATURDAY, Aug 13, 10am - 4pm ------------------------ Each year we take a Saturday and re-organize theFurniture/Prop Room. This is where the theatre stores all the large pieces that we use periodically onstage. This year we are also including a general cleaning of theDressing Rooms and Back Stage areas. It is amazing thedust that can accumulate in a 100+ year old building. Spotlighters will provide all cleaning materials - includingface masks - plus pizza for volunteers. Saturday - August, 13, 2011 - 10am - 4pm Contact Sherrionne Brown for more info - Sherrionne@aol.com Box Office Renovations ------------------------- We will be renovating the Box Office between Aug 22thand Sept 18th. This includes demolition of the current Box Officestructure (and removal of all equipment), and then reconstruction of our new larger and more functional Box Office. Cost of materials: $2,500.00. If 100 folks donate just $25 (or more) each, we will have the needed funds for materials. And we can always use another pair (or more) of handsto help with demolition and/or construction. Saturday,Nov 20, 2011 -6:30pm Reception with Silent Auction -8:00pm Performance of "The Fantasticks" - PostShow Dessert Reception We need volunteers to make this a greatfundraiser for the theatre! 2-3 volunteers to help gather items for our Silent Auction 1 volunteer to coordinate the reception catering 2-3 volunteers to assist with the actual event: set-up, staffing during event, and post event clean-up. Contact Fuzz for more info - Fuzz@spotlighters.org The AudreyHerman/Spotlighters DVD Project ------------------------- We have transfered about 50 vhs tapes of performancesand events at Spotlighters to DVD. We plan to create a DVD with clips from various performances over the years, as well as photos from our archives. We would like to include YOUR story about Audreyand/or Spotlighters in the DVD. We will be scheduling 3 dates (Nov 2011, Feb 2012, and Apr 2012) to have Ken Stanek, ourvideographer to set up at Spotlighters and record you telling your Spotlighters or Audreystory. These will be edited into clips and included inthe Spotlighters DVD. We need someone to serve as the point person for the recordings and maintain the necessary paperwork. Thisperson would also assist in handling orders for the DVD. Contact Fuzz for more info - Fuzz@spotlighters.org ADA Renovations Fund Raisers ------------------------- Our Fund Raising goal for the ADA Renovations isapproximately $127,000. We will be approaching local foundations andbusinesses for major gifts, but we need to provide ways forour patrons to participate as well. We are seeking a Coordinator to help us organize smallevents during the season to help raise the funds that aren'tprovided by the large grant sources. This individual would also be a point of contact for folkswith connections to businesses or companies that would wantto donate smaller amounts for specific gifts. Contact Fuzz for more info - Fuzz@spotlighters.org Opening Night ReceptionCoordinator ---------------------- Do you like planning receptions? Matching menus to plays? For our 2011-2012 season, we are seeking an individual towork with local restarurants and caterers to provide a litefare reception for our Opening Night performances. The post-show reception is a great time for audience membersto mingle with cast and crew, and celebrate the excitementof Opening Night. Spotlighters has a small budget for the receptions - whichis stretched! We are seeking someone that would have the time to work withlocal vendors on a discounted promotional reception. Contact Fuzz for more info - Fuzz@spotlighters.org Box Office / Front of House ---------------------- Assisting with Box Office operations. Front of House Front of House involves anything to do with the preparation for the audience and their comfort. We have vounteers from Senior Box Office (Baltimore County Senior Network) that handle taking tickets and selling concessions, which leaves the theatre staff to handle the box office and front of house. | INTERNSHIPS at Spotlighters Theatre - -Spotlighters offers a variety of Internship Programs.
The Internship Program will address training and offer experience in three significant areas of theatre: 1. TECHNICAL THEATRE Single Production (6-12 weeks) Semester/Summer Program School Term Program 2. PRODUCTION MANAGEMENT Three Month Program Six Month Program Year Program 3. OPERATIONS/FRONT OF HOUSE Three Month Program Six Month Program Year Program Applications should include a cover letter outlining the requirements (if Academic Internship), areas of interest, time committment available, and a copy of most current resume. This should include a narrative of theatre experience if not outlined in academic resume. Interns report to the Executive Director or his designee. Interns typically work 8-12 hours per week, depending on school and/or project requirements. Duties and tasks will be assigned to the Intern to allow for varied opportunities in all areas. The Intern may work in any or all of the three areas at the same time depending upon time restrictions. The Intern may select particular topics of interest from each of the Learning Areas Menus. |
