Cast Bios

Chris Bassett (Max Orton)- Chris Bassett (guy-who-done-wrote-the-music / Max Orton) studied composition at NYU and the Peabody Conservatory, according to the latest student-loan statements. He has recently overcome a debilitating scourge of chronic hangnails which threatened to halt his career as a marine taxidermist, and would like to thank the manufacturers of "Skratch-B-Gone Cuticle Nippers" for returning him to his first love: stuffing dead fish. Chris would like to
dedicate tonight's performance to the Baltimore Parking Authority: Citation
Division, for never failing to show him the error of his ways. There is a
permanent spot for you on my windshield. Love and thanks to Laurel for
everything ever.

Laurel Burggraf (Bob) thanks the cast for their monumental efforts, their enormous talent and their total and repeated leaps of faith. To Jibbs, Lisa, Towanda, Laurel, DC, Phaedra, Ryan and Chris- I have stolen your great ideas and been awed by your impulses and inspirations. To a heroic effort- thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Douglas “DC” Cathro (Nigel Madison) is quite happy to be back in Baltimore at Spots after appearing in “Chess.” You may, or may not, have also seen him in “Planet Claire” at the Theatre Project. He is a company member of Maryland Ensemble Theatre in Frederick and would like to thank you, the audience, for supporting live theatre.

Lisa Dulin (Loki Stevenson) - This will mark one year. At this time, one year ago, she'd have been standing in the snow, the salt-stains wicking up her trouser legs as she coaxes her car to move. Winter enough to bury everything; not winter enough to see breath. Standing in the road slightly too warm, everything is a soundstage. Sounds are clearer, and a sense of something realer just beyond "action." In this version, she defeats her evil twin, salt-stains whirling through air in slowmotion. She's got it all written down on a piece of paper she's since lost, on which "wierd" looks righter than "weird." Drawn out in storyboard, a little too detailed because she forgot - it's just a storyboard. So this will mark one year since coming to the theatre and defeating her evil twin that one time.
Support local artists. Especially comic artists. And especially comic artists who work at theatres on St. Paul street. The power of art compels you.

Phaedra Eason (Daneen Lennox)- This is Phay’s first venture into theatre since her 6th grade production of “The Wiz.” She is mainly a dancer but has started to try out different avenues of performance art. Phay has been dancing on and off for the past fifteen years. She has been trained in ballet, modern, African, jazz, tap and hip-hop, with tap, jazz, and hip-hop being her favorites. Phay would like to thank her fellow cast members for being great to work with and her boyfriend Wade for his support and for helping her run lines.
Jibbs Merkel (Curley Cohen) signed on to do tech. She did a very bad job. (And she didn’t even act upon her predilection for pushing little red buttons…this time). * Fortunately we put her in the show and that solved all our problems. –The Management.

Laurel Peyrot (Claire Dabenough)- Once Upon a Time, Laurel Peyrot ran away to join the circus as a clown/acrobat/ tightrope walker/peanut vendor/elephant bather/lion tamer. (well, not really, but she wanted to . . . and doesn’t that count for something?) Since not running away to the circus, Laurel has been in many fabulous plays and worked with very talented people. She does not support animal abuse or unwarranted fear of clowns.
Ryan Russell (Nathan Cohen)- Ryan is very happy to be in his Spots debut. His previous shows consist of The Wizard of Oz in which he played Scarecrow, Lil Abner is which played Romeo Scragg, You Can’t Take It With You where he played Mr. Kirby and many more. He wants to give a shout out to all of his Theatre Fest/School friends.

Towanda Underdue (Alexis Hannisley) is happy to make her Spotlighters’ debut. Diversifying in stage, industrials, film, television and commercial roles, she considers entertaining her joyous ecstasy, despite only getting ‘call backs’ for the Wire and the Kennedy Center. A shout out to all the Poly Parrots and Towson Tigers! Long live the Old, Cracked Tunes!
Jeannie Dalmas (Costumer) studied costume design at UMBC. Her most recent accomplishments as costumer are My Play About My Wife (AH Spotlighter’s Theater), The Importance of Being Ernest (AH Spotlighter’s Theater), The Misanthrope (Mobtown Theater), Cheaper By The Dozen (Liberty Showcase Theater) and For the Return of Albion (The Chesapeake Art Center). She also acts and does production and technical work. Thanks to my husband Randy and everyone involved with this production, you've been great!
